Wicklow County Council has confirmed that full service has resumed at Greystones Fire Station after the town went without fire cover for almost three weeks.
Wicklow Sinn Féin TD John Brady has raised “major concerns” as the town of Greystones faces into a third week without fire cover, following the decision by fire fighters at Greystones Fire Station to call in sick due to what is understood to be a breakdown in relations with the station officer. This means the number of available firefighters in Greystones has fallen below the minimum safe number for an operational fire crew.
A new addition to the coffee houses of Bray has opened at the top of the town’s Main Street, with Firehouse Café, which has embraced a unique theme to stand out above the crowd – namely the Fire Brigade. With its shelves full of helmets, badges and other assorted paraphernalia, it sits directly opposite the location of the old Bray Fire Station, which was built in 1955 behind the Town Hall until the services were moved to Ballywaltrim in the late 1980s.
