29 January 2021 - Submitted by Martin Fullard Submitted by Martin Fullard on 29 January 2021 The Event Supplier and Services Association (ESSA) has issued 400 Freedom of Information (FOI) requests to its members’ Local Authorities in the UK and expressing concern of reports of geographical disparities in the disbursement of Local Restriction Support Grants (LRSG) and Additional  Restrictions Grant (ARG). Each authority has been asked for up-to-date figures of how much LRSG and ARG funding they have received from central government, how much of it has been dispensed, how much remains, amid concerns among ESSA’s members that there are serious disparities in how local authorities have distributed these funds.

Firms urged to apply for COVID-19 support Businesses in Allerdale affected by COVID-19 are urged to apply for Government support. The Additional Restrictions Grant is available for eligible businesses affected due to restrictions imposed under Tier 4 and the current national lockdown. It is the second time the ARG scheme has been in operation during the pandemic and this new round covers December 31 to February 15. The funding is to support those businesses who are severely impacted by the restrictions but are not eligible for the Local Restrictions Support Grant (Closed). The types of businesses that may be eligible are: Businesses required to close but are not in the rates system (or are not the ratepayer) and are therefore not eligible for the LRSG. This includes market traders, B&Bs who pay council tax rather than business rates, or personal care services such as hairdressers who operate on a mobile basis, or rent a shared space within a larger unit.
