Nova Scotia Premier Tim Houston says Donkin coal mine owner Kameron Coal must meet all the government's safety regulations and compliance orders before the company can start digging underground again.
Supporters of the underground coal mine in Donkin, N.S., rallied Tuesday and called on Premier Tim Houston and his PC MLAs to get miners back to work quickly after the mine shut down in July due to two roof falls in one week.
A company with ties to Kameron Coal says layoffs at the mine are due to uncertainty around when Nova Scotia's Labour Department will lift the stop-work order.
