NORFOLK, Va. A Virginia Beach nonprofit is uplifting single moms this week and next.
They started by delivering more than 100 gifts on Friday to a family that’s been hit harder than most this year.
The nonprofit, The Restored Woman, is blessing nine single mothers this holiday. They struggled to find a family more deserving than Nikita Mitchell’s.

NORFOLK, Va. - Blessings wrapped in Christmas paper filled the inside of one Norfolk home.
âIt s overwhelming,â said Nikita Mitchell.
The gifts stuffed in the back of cars and in the hands of a group of local men and women are for Mitchell and her seven children.
âThe last couple of years have been pretty stressful,â adds Mitchell.
Stressful raising kids between the ages of 7 and 17 - all while fighting cancer. Mitchell was diagnosed with the disease back in 2017.
