Cuyahoga County Has More Money To Help Struggling Restaurants

By Tom Moore Dec 21, 2020 (Cleveland) - Cuyahoga County is setting aside another $500,000 for the county s Restaurant Stabilization Fund. The county had already set aside $1.2 million from CARES Act money for grants of up to $10,000 for restaurants. The grant money can help restaurants that have unpaid rent, utilities, or other COVID-19 related costs. Those costs must have occured from March 1 to December 1, 2020. The county says the first go-round had almost 850 applicants, of which 140 were able to be helped. The second round of funding will help 48 restaurants that applied for the initial round. County Executive Armond Budish said, “Our restaurants are in dire need of financial support to try and combat the economic turmoil this has put many of them through. I am grateful that we can put further funds toward the program and help an additional 40 restaurants who so desperately need it.”
