behind or agree with. i pose the same question to you. did you hear anything that you could say yes to from the president? what i thought was glaring was the lock of emphasis at all on foreign affairs. so coming back to your question, though, very little, if any. the tenor or tone of the speech was improved. no doubt. but listen. you are coming off of a 77-minute press conference, a bizarre press conference, a bizarre inaugural address. so the bar was very, very low. he came across in tone as more moderating. but in reality, chuck is right. nothing in this speech differs from anything from behind the scenes in terms of changing behind the scenes. steve bannon are still behind the scenes and not going anywhere in the future. what do democrats do? the line has been all morning long that the president has been all talk here. you got to look at his actions. you simply dont have the numbers in congress to shift the numbers. what s the plan?
so let me ask you this. does he have a point? do you want to see more specifics on policy when it comes to health care from the president? ryan zinke is a great american. i hope you ll be able to report his overwhelming confirmation. i tug the president hit it extly right. he was specific enough to offer guiding principles and contours to what a replacement would look like but didn t get lost in the minutia which would have put people to sleep. his speech was very effective overall. particularly on the health care angle, he threaded the needle where republicans are going to be able to unify behind those principles, particularly the fact he linked the tax credits to health savings accounts. a lot of conservatives believe that the money going to a health savings account. the individual can then pay their premiums, tax-free and then, obviously, use the health savings account for other medical needs. that s one way to put a downward pressure on the cost on insurance and medical care.
somebody like you who is a critic of that philosophy, what can you do other than sit back and watch? i think what you are seeing already are the administration reverting to the meme that is that s a little bit about what happened last night. you think or was it just whether it will or not, i don t know but you ve got so many more adults now surrounding trump. whether it s the new secretary of defense, whether it s the secretary of state, the secretary of treasury. these people reflect. they ve grown up with and benefited and supported these big stimystems. i don t think they ll be part of a bannon fantasy that we re going to deconstruct the global administrate of state. what s interesting is trump did nod toward the media talking about nato and looking at james mattis as he did it. but we know that h.r. mcmaster, the new national security adviser went to trump directly last week and said please don t say radical islamic terrorism and then saw the draft of the speech the presi
how do you see the parallels here between brexit and the trump movement in the united states and why do you think tony blair would have been the guy to rebut the president. one reason he s the guy. tony blair is very unpopular in the uk for his support for the iraq war and other things. but that liberated him to say the king has no clothes that brexit is a really stupid idea, disconnecting in a connected world. and it has the potential to undermine a very big system. the european union. people forget where the european union came from. it s not just a trading bloc and that wasn t the original motivation. the european union was forged out of world war i and world war ii, two wars they have been fighting each other for many centuries and what the european union did was bring them into an economic pact that has not only made europe
epidemic. chuck schumer was on the today show this morning saying he didn t hear anything in that hour speech that he could get behind. at some point, are democrats hurting the country by not working with the president? absolutely not. look at what this president wants to do. he wants to rip away health care from 30 million american people. he wants to repeal the affordable care act. he wants to adopt another muslim ban. he wants to withdraw consumer protections that protect consumers from the greed of wall street. why would democrats go along with that agenda based on a speech where his where he was able to read from a teleprompter? on that executive order, dallas, the president has stressed that s the lack of any executive order on this immigration travel ban. it s hurting the country. almost a month since that s been tied up in court. another delay in rolling this out. at what point does the white house undercut its own messaging here? i think that president trump wants
