Weymouth harbour PROPOSALS for the regeneration of Weymouth Quay are unlikely to ever be put to the vote – because they fall under what are known as ‘permitted development’ rights. The move is unlikely to please some harbour users who have complained about what they see as a lack of community engagement on just about every harbour issue over the past decade. Resident Mary Harris told Wednesday’s harbours committee that Dorset Council’s processes “stifle community involvement and frustrate communications.” She told the committee: “Every major council decision in the recent past has completely lacked community engagement resulting in protests, complaints and possibly decision reversals.
