KATHMANDU, May 28: In a highly controversial move, President Ram Chandra Paudel has pardoned the prison sentence of Resham Chaudhary, who is serving life imprisonment in connection with the brutal murder of eight persons including seven police personnel and a minor in Tikapur in 2015.
In a commendable display of commitment to justice and the rule of law, the Office of the President has sent back a proposal forwarded by the government to grant amnesty to Resham Chaudhary, the mastermind behind the heinous Tikapur incident. By suggesting adherence to prevailing laws and principles established by the Supreme Court, President Paudel has demonstrated that vested political interests should not guide cases of such significance.
KATHMANDU, May 27: The Office of the President has sent back the petition sent by the government to grant amnesty to Resham Chaudhary to the Ministry of Home Affairs (MoHA).
