good evening to you. good evening. james wolf is a former security director for the senate intelligence committee for a leak investigation here. and tonight the new york times says they were informed by federal investigators, e-mail and phone records of their report had been gone through. what do you think about this story? still learning more. obviously you have to shoot straight when you talk to federal investigators. you cannot lie to them. but i also am a little concerned that in this investigation they did seize records of a reporter. and, you know, i know that reporters are not shielded from, you know, committing crimes, but i do think we should have a much higher standard when we start going through their e-mails and phone contacts. there are first amendment interests that are at stake. so i ll reserve judgment, don, i will we re able to learn more tomorrow when mr. wolf is arraigned. but, again, you have to be truthful with investigators. but i think we have to be very

expected to fault james comey s handling of the clinton e-mail investigation. do you accept that james comey violated protocol? wolf, i would like to see the inspector general s report before i comment on it. i know pieces have been leaking out. i ve tried throughout this whole investigation. i would like that reserve judgment until i look at the whole report. it was clearly a lot of controversy about how mr. comey han handled the clinton tapes and e-mails. earlier the president tweeted this. why don t people start saying thank you, mr. president, for firing james comey. if the inspector general s report is tough on comby in a bunch of areas involving the hillary clinton e-mail investigation, will you agree with the president that he was right to fire him? listen, i ll look at the
the government, let them do their keyword search, reserve judgment on the other things, heard out the president, is there any suspicion you have at this point that this is being done at the wrong way and politically motivated? it s not. if you look at our system of justice it is built on redundancies and oversight and accountability. something in the case of a search of mr. cohen s office is going to be something that rises to the highest level of the justice department and you have the independent judiciary so i don t have concern there. i do have concern and i m not a partisan, in looking at the volleying back and forth and left and right and some of these attacks on the system and the attacks on law enforcement, i think that when you attack everything, you lose credibility in making those arguments. here we see the president and his allies going after the system but again, when you attack everything it s hard to parsend make sense of what s actually righteous and what s just noise
