Whether the agreement will be implemented remains obviously a question mark. There will be detailed negotiations now at the different elements of the agreement. Its a complicated matter, but its important that the agreement has been confirmed. Also quite important is the lift of veto the United States had on negotiations between brazil and the oecg geared towards brazi s brazils. This is a very important development. Was an accomplishment of president bolsonaros visit here in washington in april. Again, remains to be seen how the negotiations between brazil and the countries of oecg will develop. The turkish government is pointing the finger to the Islamic State group for being a responsible for the attacks a peace rally this weekend. He wins a fifth term in office with protesters decrying the election is being rigged for opposition figures about to run. Anchor to the middle east where it Israeli Security is on high alert as violence continues between israelis and palestinians and shows no signs of abating. An Israeli Police officer stabbed this morning in the old city with his attacker being killed as a result. This comes after a day where a pregnant Palestinian Woman and her daughter were killed as Israeli Air Force is attacked alleged militant targets in gaza on sunday. More of us have to understand how it works and that is why you are here for dan malloy. Because over the past four years, you have seen with your own eyes how this man has transformed this date while other governors were cutting education. Thank you. I am david nassau and i am absolutely delighted to be here. As i tell my history students until they want to choke me, the past is a foreign country. We can visit their, we can try to learn the customs. We can translate the language, and we can feel the air and light. We can smith observances and recoil of the folders. The we are for. We are foreigners. Writing about the recent past is not easy. While i was privileged to spend a lot of time talking to a lot of kennedys, it was difficult to weed as a historian, working with living people. I would much prefer to work with documents. You have to figure out what is true and what is not true. Where the story came from. Because the stories are all told with the same authenticity and vigor. The other difficulty about writing with the recent past is that it is not always easy or to establish one distance from it. We have a responsibility to demystify and move beyond the cliches about the wisdom and courage of the greatest generation
