Accumulating evidence suggests that asymptomatic carriers contribute to the bulk of malaria transmission in Sub-Saharan Africa. In low transmission settings, much of the asymptomatic reservoir – people carrying the disease without showing symptoms - is submicroscopic, thus invisible to commonly used rapid tests.
