almaguer. reporter: before first responders arrived in emergency vehicles, before firefighters unwound spools of rope to pull a rescue bucket up a hill through thick brush, the 64-year-old victim clung to a tree, suspended on a steep slope dangling 400 feet off a road, so exhausted from a battle with hypothermia, she could only utter a single word, help. she was in pretty bad shape. the fact that she was able to hold on the way she did just shows how much she wants to live. reporter: matthew stewart s mother gayle had gone hiking outside reno. when she didn t return, her son and his friends set out to find her. i heard some groaning, like someone was in pain. reporter: dominic la cota spotted stewart in the dark as temperatures plunged into the low 30s. do you think she would have survived the night? no, no. definitely not. reporter: 12 hours after her fall, rescuers finally
the coast of georgia as the fourth and final crew member who was trapped on that overturned cargo ship is brought to shore. wow. that s the moment there. rescue crews from the u.s. coast guard heard tapping sounds from inside the ship. they then drilled a hole in the ship right there just big muff to pull out the crew members. let s go to cnn s natasha chen. she is on st. simon s island where this took place or just off where it took place. tell us about the condition of these four crew members after what had to be a frightful several days inside that ship. absolutely, jim and poppy. we re talking about 36 hours for the four of them inside. we just got off the phone this morning with southeast georgia health systems who confirmed they do have, as of this morning, all four of those patients. we re still waiting on word of their conditions. but we know from the coast guard yesterday that when they were rescued, three out of the four of them were able to walk on their own. one of them
