united on appeal, divided on replacement. that was senator rand paul of kentucky there. he, among the republicans speaking out today in saying, this is not the kind of repeal and replace that they had in mind. now all eyes turn to house speaker paul ryan. it ll billion his job to try to get this bill through the house with republican votes. he is set to speak this hour. we are counting down for that. of course we ll bring it when he steps before those cameras. also rounding out our agenda this afternoon, some drama at a senate committee hearing. sessions at that late moment that story just came out is a got you question it was not a got you, question, sir. it was, from the standpoint he didn t know what you were asking about. tempers flair this afternoon. chuck grassley, the republican chairman of the judiciary committee there, that was al franken s voice you heard, the subject, the backdrop for this
the affordable care act. for example, many people did not know that black lung disease was never covered. it is covered now in the affordable care act. people in west virginia who voted for president trump to repeal the affordable care act really are at-risk now for losing their health care. and so, this is a very dangerous moment, i believe, and people s lives are at stake. people are anxious. but, i m very pleased that they re in disarray because the republicans can t try to figure out what to do, but minimally, we do not intend to let them repeal the affordable care act. if they do not come up with the votes, if there s no help from democrats and republicans fail to get 218, then what? what happens then? well i hope that the town meetings and the issues around health care continue to be raised by the resistance that s taken place to the repeal of the affordable care act.
