relates to the most hurly burly things in the government. even as former president trump is charged federally for among other things allegedly overseeing a plot to sneak fake votes into the electoral college count, thee local republicans o signed up to be those fake electors in seven states, they are now facing an array of criminal investigations and in some cases charges themselves. in three states now we have either overt confirmation or clear indication that the fake republican t electors are the subject of open criminal investigations at the state level, that s arizona, new mexico, and georgia. andxi one other state in wisconn the attorney general there won t say either way whether there s an open criminal investigation and all 16 fake republican electors have now been charged with felonies under state law.
and then after trump t, when he showed up, they added cultists to thatad list. yes, the truth is the real outliers in the republican party are the bush republicans o . they ve beenfo outr of step with their own voters for years. really, if you want tot be precise, about it, pretty much back to the 2006 midterms . wed t knew all we had to know back then. then back in 2016, the republican ruling class, they wanted jeb to be president. but no offense to gop base, wanted a fighter to stand upp for them. they still want that. ar yeah.ty they getet a party leadership that too often treats them. they feel like second class citizens. and then whens.s. trump wowedhe everyone when he became president, rattling the old chamber of commerce, hold on the party, the oldd guard, they weren t happy. ed they tolerated trump, but they never really respected him. and beyond the tone and the style of trump, they recoiled at his positions on china trade
if you look inside the numbers of charlotte the democrat won by 13 points the last only one by ten so actually it was worse. a special election it s a different animal so the turnout is one third of the voters but as trump looks at this thinking of 2020 he is worried about the suburbs not just like charlotte but detroit where he needs to win.e, so the strategy for the republicans o and when trump is on the ballot he will be his own motivator you turn out that base and you can offset the losses that are very real with those big city suburbs.
anything that any of these guys said. he basically said, health care for everyone. you can just see the slit appearing on the bro of people like paul ryan. he s going to cover everybody whose been covered. covered or access. what does this mean? he is setting an expectation bar really high that democrats will use against republicans. that s what i can t quite figure out. is he going against house republicans o not? rhetorically he is. rhetorically he is, but i think chuck, i mean, the precision with which he speaks about these issues as we know over a long period of time. there isn t a lot of precision to it. it s like a fire hoes without anybody holding it. it goes everywhere. and people take a lot of that literally. but he could say it in a different way, week, two weeks, or a month, and the republicans will say okay fine, we re back to where we were. he discombobulates people, that doesn t mean we know exactly what he meant when he said everybody should be covered. i sti
measure. it s just a very odd position to be in. john mccain comes out and says there will be no boots on the ground. why aren t we pushing for regime change? we can t do that without boots on the ground. one of the few republicans o who did speak out during the bush years about skepticism is now the defense secretary. he s going to be ostensibly having a big role here. this is a very important time for chuck hagel. it will reveal a lot about how he has his position to see what influence he has in the administration, what kind of imprint he has on it. that s right. it s interesting that we re waiting for john kerry s statement now to chuck hagel s statement about a military strike. i wonder with the funding politics, how this will play into the sequestration. they won t provide relief to the defense side of the sequester unless there s a comprehensive solution and that has to include taxes. that s been a politically dicey argument. but they ve held the line
