they say a lot of people think you don t return your calls, or you don t get it? a lot of times the answer has been that white house staff is constantly in touch with democrats on the hill or democrats, you know, that work in advocacy groups or operatives and that they can t possibly answer everyone but that this is just whining from either house democrats that don t understand what their priorities are, or that need to just suck it up. i mean, they take a pretty hard line with him. this is something we ve been hearing from democrats for a while now, which is they want to see biden be out there and be more forceful and be on the stump and to just go out and make the entire case and going to districts where republicans didn t vote for the infrastructure bill or republicans didn t vote for the stimulus package early on and to say this republican didn t vote for all this help for you in the middle of the pandemic. you heard isaac lay this out, and michael bennett, the senator from col
it clear that the reason we are getting through covid and there are all these jobs created is because of what democrats did. the republicans didn t vote for the covid relief package, not one of them. it would be much worse. bad as things are, there are things we need to do. we have to keep pushing biden s advantage of what he has accomplished, what democrats did, define the republican party that it is dragging us back. and both of you are referring to what s off stage, why if it looks like what mcconnell is doing is sort of bad or not that effective, imagine how much worse it would be, chai, they spent months developing something, put out a big rollout, do a big interview, have it scuttled by trump that night, yet some people are clearly speaking to adopt joe s analogy. here is lindsey graham pleading
you just laid out a few things there, and let me try and address a couple of them for you. with senator man chin, the president has a close relationship with him. we have been in touch with his team. we are going to continue to have those conversations, and that s what is important there. and look, yeah, when we say republicans have not supported it, i just laid out what the economy, the strength of the economy opening back up, and the american rescue plan because of the president s leadership. republicans didn t vote for that. they didn t vote for a middle class tax cut for families with children, no, and you hear from republicans saying that these high costs is a gold mine for republicans. high cost being a gold mine for republicans. who says that, and what the president is trying to do is he s trying to lower those high costs for americans because he understands their struggle, and so those are the things that we re talking about, and everybody in build back better, like i said, it
psaki. one of the advisers said this weekend cedric richmond he said republicans defunded the police by not supporting the american rescue plan. but, how is it that that is an argument to be made when the president never mentioned needing money for police to stop a crime wave when he was selling the american rescue plan. the president did mention that the american rescue plan, state and local funding, something that was supported by the president, a lot of democrats who supported and voted for the bill, could help ensure local cops were kept on the beat in communities across the country. as you know, didn t receive a single republican vote. that funding has been used to keep cops on the beat. brian: that s some fascinating spin. steve: exactly, brian. we remember, we talked a lot about it the democrats wanted to pass it and what people would get, people would get a $1,400 check. would pay for more vaccinations, and $350 billion of what republicans refer to as a blue state bailout.
