Knox County will have a new Sheriff next month in Jack Harlan. The Republican came out ahead of his Democratic opponent James Robertson in Tuesday's General Election. Harlan received about 58 percent of the county vote, or won by about 3,000 votes. Harlan is a retired U.S. Army First Sergeant, and current detective and K9 handler with Knox County. Harlan started as a Knox County deputy in 2016 but also was the East Galesburg Police Chief. He will succeed Democrat David Clague who decided not to seek another term after 15 years. Harlan is set to take his oath of office next month. In other Sheriff races Republican Nicholas Petitgout was elected to another term in McDonough County, Steven Sloan won another term in Stark County and Jon Webb won as a Republican in Fulton County.
