GARDAI investigating the discovery of two handguns found in a ditch at a building site are hopeful they will provide a breakthrough in one of a number of cold case murders and shootings in the city.
The revolver and semi-automatic pistol were uncovered at Ballincollie Road near Whites Cross on Cork city’s northside on Wednesday.

It’s understood workmen were doing excavation work on the ditch earlier and the guns were discovered in the disturbed earth by local teenagers who contacted the gardai.
