(PNA file photo) MANILA-The Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR)-Mines and Geosciences Bureau (MGB) recognized on Friday mining companies with exemplary efforts in promoting environmentally and socially responsible mining operations in the country. According to DENR, such companies will receive the Presidential Mineral Industry Environmental Award (PMIEA) in a ceremony that will be aired online. DENR Secretary Roy Cimatu and other government officials are expected to grace the event. Conferring the annual award aims to further promote private sector participation in and enhance public awareness on protecting the environment and ecology.
