negotiated between hunter biden s lawyers and the u.s. attorney appears to be at an impasse. it has fallen apart. they went to court, the judge overseeing the case had some questions and push back on the plea deal. but at this point, according to court filings, it appears that this case is headed to trial. i want to read a statement from one of hunter biden s lawyers, chris clark. he says it is hard to see why weiss would ve proposed such a resolution, the plea deal, if there were other offenses that he could have successfully prosecuted. and we are aware of none. they say they are confident that when all of this is over, their client will go on and live his life successfully. but in addition to a possible trial, wolf, now weiss have to compile a report about his investigation and his filings. he says he will make the report public. i ve also learned that the white house and hunter biden s legal team did not get a heads up about this announcement. there had been plans in the
witnesses testifying before it. the grand jury recommends that the d.a. seek appropriate indictments for such crimes where the evidence is compelling. so they believe that of the 75 people that we know that they heard from over the course of this investigation, that at least one person and possibly more lied to them and they want the d.a. to do something about it legally. the other thing that stands out, peter, they took a vote they say and they essentially reject the claim that was brought forth by the former president and his allies that the 2020 election was stolen and put that in very plain language. they say we find by a unanimous vote that no widespread fraud took place in the georgia 2020 presidential election that could result in overturning that election. that s an important marker to put down in this report as well. a couple of other things that we gleaned from this. we learned that the vast majority of this testimony was delivered in person. we know while the special grand j
special grand jury, have any hints on whether he s england to inclined to reach the grand juries report? he, no he didn t really tip his hand on where he s gonna rule on this, and he said he didn t want to make any rash decisions on the matter. but he really pressed the prosecutors on whether there was any legal reason, but there is any law saying that he can release a special grand jury s report. he pointed out that the special grand jurors, they want to make this court public they are eager to make this report public. they said look, this is an investigative body that s done so much of his work out in public, and that is not seem to have hindered ongoing investigations, that, again no final ruling, he said that he may put forth an order saying what is gonna do. but it s not just gonna drop the report all of a sudden, overnight, on the american people. did you get any indication on whether it ll be a full report? or we dak did version? he didn t. i think that the issue is that w
defendants. she specifically said it was important to preserve the rights of future defendants and make sure they were able to get a fair trial. she previously named more than a dozen people as potential targets in this investigation, people like rudy giuliani, donald trump s former attorney, as well as more than a dozen republicans who served as fake electors for donald trump here. did the judge give any hints in the hearing on whether he is inclined to release the grand jury s report? reporter: you know, he didn t really tip his hand on where he is going to rule on this. he said he didn t want to make any rash decision on the matter. but he really pressed the prosecutors on whether there was any, you know, legal reason whether there was any law saying he could not release the special grand jury s reform. he pointed out that the grand jurors voted, they wanted to make this report public, her eager to make this report public. he pointed to the january 6th committee saying this is a
sara murray joining us from outside court there in atlanta. so of course the big parlor game this morning is will the judge or won t the judge make the report public. reporter: yeah, i think that s the big question. you know, i would not expect the judge to make a decision on, you know, releasing the report today. i think even if he decided to make the report public that there could be a push to get some redactions. the big question is what did this grand jury recommend? they have been doing their work for seven months, they have the ability to recommend people for indictment, people that could include former president donald trump, a number of his associates, and they have done some pretty expansive work over these seven months, they have hauled in people like rudy giuliani trump s former attorney, south carolina senator lindsey graham, georgia governor brian kemp. this is an investigation that really started when donald trump made that call to georgia s secretary of state brad raff
