Whetu Fala - Awa FM Station Manager
30 years ago, the late Joe Reo had a dream to set up Whanganui s own iwi radio station.
On June 17th, 1991, that dream became a reality, and that reality became the legacy of our old people to preserve and promote te mita o te reo o Whanganui, our unique tribal dialect to be heard throughout the rohe.
Today, that work continues as Te Reo Irirangi o Whanganui Awa FM is about to celebrate a major milestone 30 years of being on-air, a journey three decades in the making with the memories of those that made it happen and the acknowledgement of those staff at Awa FM who are still making happen today.
