Families fear the London floods are “a taste for things to come” after torrential rain and thunderstorms caused chaos in the capital. The flooding saw a car trapped, buses flooded and businesses being forced to close, as Battersea’s Queenstown Road “was a canal”. Now, residents are calling on better drainage and pumps to be ready to remove water from flooded sites. Maria Tironi, 28, of Queenstown Road, said: “It was raining and then the police came and closed the road from the traffic lights all the way down. And then there was flooding in the street and a car was trapped.”
