arlette saenz joins the conversation. there s no immediate threat to the president s renomination, but they be to look at these numbers and understand before they can deal with the republicans, they have some issues in the family. yeah, i think in their ideal world of course they would want to have 100% of democrats supporting the president, but some of this falls in line with some of the polling we saw leading into his re-election announcement where i think it was about half of democrats said they did not want him to run for re-election. ultimately it s very early they don t think these polls are going to last this way as we get further into 2024, but it does speak to questions about enthusiasm for biden within the democratic party. his advisers and democrats democratic officials ultimately believe that voters will come and be out there supporting him and especially when you have a foil like a former president donald trump or if it ends up being governor ron desantis that it could
russia gate and i have said, this is one of the greatest injustices done to a presidential candidate and a president. and he was treated unfairly here. so he is i understand vindicated as far as russia gate is concerned. bret: you stop short there. i have had my differences with him. i have also said that i thought that he had great policies. he deserved a lot of credit for what he accomplished and this was a grave injustice and the fact that he was able to publish a lot in the face of it i think was a great achievement. i have other problems, you know, i m not supporting him for renomination, but he was right on this and this is a vindication. he had it right from the beginning. bret: you know, talking about the price of the durham probe, $6.5 million over four years, couple days. the mueller probe was two years-plus, about 32 million? something like that, yeah. bret: is this worth this time and effort?
it. and feels that he was robbed of the presidency. it s interesting that when you look at surveys and you know how i feel about them, they sometimes have the half-life of week-old fish left in the sun, but still, trump s approval rating across the board is under water. it s under 30%. among republicans, it s 80%, and something like almost that percentage of republicans don t want the other people to talk negatively about trump. so he s in a position almost of being an incumbent, and one of the points worth mentioning and remembering is political parties don t dump incumbent presidents. even herbert hoover got the renomination. right. you have to go back to arthur. you re offering an explanation as to why he has such a commanding lead over ron desantis, despite the perception of desantis being such a breath of the future among republicans. hey, jeff, always appreciate

a second term. what we have here is support for the renomination, all right from within your own party. going back to bill clinton 1996 among democrats at 50% for renomination. barack obama 2012, 75. donald trump two years ago was 73%. where is joe biden today? among democrats 38%. so you look at the states that really matter. these were the three states that really mattered. pennsylvania, but three states between wisconsin and georgia and arizona. collectively you had a difference of 42,000 votes that decided the outcome across three different states. today joe biden at 41% in wisconsin, 42% in georgia, 38% in the state of arizona. how does this factor in? we ll bring in someone who was in the battle. she is with us now. kayleigh mcenany joins our conversation to try to talk about this.
