The first of these will be on the proposed conveyance and execution of a the deed to Dave’s Auto Service. The council will hear public opinion on the matter before addressing Resolution 21-10 which approves the Quit Claim Deed to the property. The second public hearing will address the proposed 2021-22 fiscal year city budget which has just been completed. Again the city will hear the thoughts of residents and employees on the context of the budget before adopting it using Resolution 21-11. Along with the adoption of the budget comes the certification of taxes for the upcoming fiscal year.

The sum, which was announced in the first week of March, will be split into £70 million for the 2020/21 financial year and £50 million for 2021/22. Croydon Council issued a Section 114 notice declaring itself bankrupt on November 11, 2020. The projected overspend is estimated at £96.5 million. The council cannot spend money on services it is not legally required to provide such as parks and community centres. Croydon Council leader Hamida Ali said: “This means we can now put forward a balanced budget and it gives us a solid foundation to focus on putting those plans for sustainable finances into practice over the next 12 months.

Irvine council leisure facilities given cash boost after coronavirus closures

A recovery and renewal plan to help KA Leisure build back from the COVID-19 pandemic has been agreed by council chiefs. KA Leisure, which operates leisure facilities and activities across North Ayrshire, has been badly affected by the lockdown restrictions over the past year. With restrictions still in place and expected to continue in the short term, it poses ongoing financial challenges for local leisure. A report submitted to cabinet last Tuesday shows how KA Leisure is responding to the challenges of the pandemic against a backdrop of a drop in visitor numbers. This dropped from 2,663,489 in 2019/20 to a projected figure of 208,604 for 2020/21, assuming tier 4 restrictions continue over the coming weeks.
