AUGUSTA – Dean B. Ouellette, 74, of Augusta, passed away after a brief illness on Memorial Day, Monday, May 31, 2021. He was born August 12, 1946 in Augusta and was the son of Hector Ouellette and Annette Martin.
Dean was a graduate of Cony High School and was drafted into the Air Force. He was a veteran of the Vietnam War and worked as a jet engine technician on numerous planes including the C130 and C141 Cargo planes, and the Fighter Jets 100’s and F4’s. He was stationed at Clark Air Force Base, McGuire Air Force Base, Japan, and the Philippines from 1967 to 1971.

ORONO University Credit Union’s application period for the annual UCU Scholarship is now open, application can be found at ucumaine.com/scholarship.
The scholarship is awarded annually to students furthering their undergraduate education at each of the seven University of Maine System campuses and Maine Maritime Academy. Since beginning its scholarship program in 2016, the credit union has awarded 34 scholarships totaling $32,500 to students furthering their education, according to a news release from the full-service financial institution.

Gerald Hayman Jr., the longtime chair of Maine’s sixth-largest credit union, University Credit Union, has retired and been succeeded by board member Peter Reid.
Reid, an assistant dean at the University of Maine, took on the volunteer position Feb. 24, according to a news release Monday.

Peter Reid, an assistant dean at the University of Maine, was recently named the volunteer chair of University Credit Union.
A member of the University Credit Union board since 2016, he serves in the university’s College of Natural Sciences, Forestry and Agriculture, and previously worked for the University of Maine System. He also held UMaine positions in athletics, admissions and student records for 18 years.
