THERE are two categories of celebrity brands. Some are intimately associated with the star: Lifestyle website Goop reflects the actress and founder Gwyneth Paltrowâs initials, cosmetics label Fenty is the singer Rihannaâs surname and Yeezy sneakers are a complicated play on rapper Kanye Westâs first name.
Then thereâs a second basket of brands that are also promoted, often founded and at least partly owned by celebs, but that have an independent identity: George Clooneyâs Casamigos tequila, Ryan Reynoldsâs Aviation American Gin, and Jessica Albaâs the Honest Co., a maker of baby and beauty products. They benefit from the starâs cachet and social media reach, but the company and the personality are not synonymous.

The tennis world mourns one of its greatest supporters
Tony Trabert, who saw the sport from all angles as a major champion and ambassador both on and off the court, has passed away aged 90. His record of 106 match wins and 18 singles titles in the 1955 season remains one of the greatest years in tennis history.
The universally popular American enriched tennis for more than 70 years as the world’s top amateur player, a contract pro, a manager of Jack Kramer’s troupe and executive director of a fledgling players association, which helped push for Open tennis. His insight for more than 30 years as a highly successful television commentator and analyst, helped to drive the sport’s boom and brought the US Open and other major championships to new audiences. He was also a two-time Davis Cup winning captain of the United States, a coach, an author and later served as the President of the International Tennis Hall of Fame before his health and mobility began to suffer.
