in a way it hasn t been. so i guess that keeps me up at t night more than anything else. g the president has tested the loyalty of the republicans, particularly on the senate side he has a hard core group of devotes on the senate side. we heard the notes out of the caucus meeting where you have republican senators yelling at each other and penls and mcconnell. other than mcconnell, will they put up with a second shutdown? i think they were in december and january because we were 24 months away from their next election. but as time goes on, they are going to be less willing to engage in deliberate political suicide because if the election were held today, there would be an absolute tidal wave for republicans. i think as time goes on, there s more willingness to stand up for trump. they will create more lines they re not willing to cross.li that s my hope.

but when you talk about emergencies, children, families, we ve got address that and we ve but to address that immediately and we ve got to make sure we dd don t have another government shutdown.ha i hope the president listens to what the conference committee says and reports out. so here s the strategy as i see it. what i heard was a consensus, republicans and democrats that shutdown was a bad idea, in fact a disaster. that s a fair assessment. that s what a majority of members said. so the idea is we basically try to work out a deal and jam the president on it, frankly. but i guess my point is that s what they tried back in december when he shut the government down. well, he did. but this is a conference commit canny meeting together again trying to to our work and this president must not derail this. remember, we have three branchs of government. we re doing our job.
republicans and democrats now meeting on border security is bl not discussing a border, everybody is capitol w wasting their time. i am cautiously optimistic that the members here are sincere about wanting to use facts and fig wrrs to resolve this issue and to it as expedishesly as possible. the increasingly irrelevant and inefecktual president is just about the only person in washington who does not n understand how badly the shutdown danieled his own position. a majority of americans continue to oppose his border wall that you remember mexico was supposed to pay for. massive opposition to trump declaring a national emergency for the wall and even greater opposition to enforcing the nation to endure a shutdown.
