working relationship with congress. touching on a few different themes, we just want to remind you as he started out, the conversation with the comment, nice to win. that is how he started, and speaking about his win as president, but also the win and the great state of so crucial in campaigns year after year. he also talked a little bit about obamacare, saying this, remember obamacare is a disaster. we have to take care of american people immediately, and that was a theme that he touched on repeatedly, that the lawmakers, including himself, are there to serve the people. he also kind of had this interesting window into a conversation with speaker ryan, not sure if speaker ryan wanted that disgust, about whether or not they were going to touch obamacare for two years, because it was going to be so bad. but then saying no, we have to deal with it, because people are being hurt with the now, paraphrasing a little bit. but there you go, president trump, greeting some fellow lawmakers, and
wants a 200-day agenda because they ve got so much to do. tax reform is part of it, they also want to have a repeal and replace obamacare bill or law are ready to by the end of february, may be into march. they do have a lot of big plans, can they accomplish them? i think really what you re saying, chip is right, what you are seeing is that difference between, donald trump ceo, he is used to walking in. if he wants to buy the durell country club, he tells his team to go buy it and they do. and it happens pretty quick, because that s what he wants done. you ve got that versus a bunch of people like paul ryan, mitch mcconnell, others on the hill, who are willing to try to get this agenda through, but understand that in a government particularly where in the senate they have 52 votes, rings have to, there s got to be in order. you can t do obamacare without,
very serious items of the agenda that are complicated, it would be a tough list to get them all down, you start adding the things that a lot of republican congressional leaders think are kind of off the point, like waterboarding, which has been kind of adjudicated by congress. they said it s against the law, it s been decided. and voter fraud, a lot of them think, let s not get misled by those kinds of things, let s keep our eye on the ball. obamacare, tax reform. building a wall, infrastructure. the kind of things that were key items not just for president trump, but also for those republicans in the room there. jenna: interesting point that you may come again as we pay attention to the room and the moment that it is, chris, there is an interesting column written by victor davis entitled the world turned upside down. i just want to point up to the viewers that the roomful of republican lawmakers were some of those who thought that a president-elect trump was going to be disaster f
obamacare. and saving families from the catastrophic rise in premiums and debilitating loss of choice in just about everything else. and remember this, for this room in particular, obamacare is a disaster. the democrats are up and saying oh, they are putting up signs like it is wonderful. it s a disaster. i actually talked with paul in the group about just doing nothing for two years, and the democrats would come begging to do something because 17 is going to be catastrophic price increases. your deductibles are through the roof, you can t use it. you can t use it. and they would come to us. except we have one problem. we have to take care of the american people immediately. so we can t wait. but every time they tell you about obamacare, we are taking them out of a big jam. big jam.
yes, republicans could get that through the house, although there would be some conservatives who would be upset about that because if you don t pay for it, then that expands the deficit. and there are some budget hawks who won t like that. but then you get to the senate, where you re going to need to overcome a filibuster. are you going to be able to get eight democrats were going to vote ten to $20 billion to build a wall that is very controversial? that is just one item. but you add to that obamacare, also some of that is going to have to get democratic votes. tax reform, very catholic it appeared infrastructure again, a budget buster. talking about hundreds of billions of dollars. those are all complicated items, and each one of them is a heavy lift. and just, quite frankly, you are in danger in congress of overloading the circuits, having too many things going at one time. i have been around a long time, congress doesn t juggle too many balls at the same time very well. jenna: t
