Following a brief uproar regarding Malaysia s sugar dating scene and implications for the country s morals, police have reportedly nabbed the founder of the infamous sugar dating site Sugarbook as investigations into the controversial platform continue.
Chief of the Selangor police Criminal Investigation Department (CID) Fadzil Ahmat told reporters that the suspect, known to be founder Darren Chan, was taken in by police late afternoon on February 17, 2021 at a residence in Kuala Lumpur.

Chan, who founded Sugarbook in 2016, is now under investigation under Penal Code laws for soliciting prostitution and for publishing statements or rumors that could cause public fear or alarm. Additionally, he s also being investigated for misusing network facilities under Section 233 of Malaysia s Communications and Multimedia Act (CMA) 1998.
