The World Health Organization is calling on pharmaceutical companies to share vaccine information.
WHO, as well as governments in Africa and Southeast Asia, are asking for information on technology and techniques for fighting the coronavirus.
COVID-19 has killed 2.5 million people around the globe, and countries are facing shortfalls in vaccination efforts.
Pharmaceutical companies in the U.S. and Europe received taxpayer money to develop a coronavirus vaccine.
The companies argue against releasing the information, saying they need to negotiate on a case-by-case basis with vaccine producers to protect their intellectual property and the public’s safety.
