CANELO: A professional since 2005, it is amazing to think that the 55-1-2 (37) Canelo is still only 30 years old – and seemingly improving with age. Arguably in his fighting prime, the bull-necked Mexican is a strong and stocky super-middleweight standing at 5ft 8ins. Despite being three inches shorter than Saunders, the duo share a very similar reach (71ins for Saunders and 70 1/2ins for Canelo).
SAUNDERS: Although he is a year older than Canelo, Saunders is the fresher of the two, having contested 30 pro bouts (all victories, 14 inside time) compared to Alvarez’s 58.

Canelo Alvarez (55-1-2, 37 KOs) will take another step towards unifying the super-middleweight division when he faces WBO champion Billy Joe Saunders (30-0, 14 KOs) on Saturday at AT&T Stadium. Canelo already owns the WBC and WBA straps and would only miss Caleb Plant’s IBF belt to fully unify the division if he was to win this week end.
Canelo took the belts in December with a dominant decision win over Callum Smith and predictably stopped Avni Yildirim in three rounds in February. While Saunders is a sizeable underdog, he has a few tools to trouble Canelo. He is a southpaw with a good jab and head movement, a profile Canelo hasn’t faced since his fights with Erislandy Lara and Austin Trout over 7 years ago.
April was, admittedly, a bit of a slow patch for the boxing schedule.
May is coming hard, though. We’ve got a lot of good fights, marquee names in action, strong matchups, and no Paul brothers on the schedule.
Personally, I’m stoked for the coming month in boxing.

Solid fight, and meaningful for the heavyweight division. If Parker wins, which most expect, he will stay in the title mix, with a stronger argument than he’s had, and it would be two solid wins already in 2021 for the former WBO titlist.
