ISLAMABAD: Chief Election Commissioner Sikandar Sultan Raja said holding local bodies elections was the constitutional responsibility of the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) and the cooperation of the governments and departments concerned was vital to carry out this exercise.
Regarding the holding of local bodies’ elections, an important meeting of the ECP was held Wednesday at the Election Commission Secretariat that was chaired by the Chief Election Commissioner. Provincial Election Commissioners of Punjab, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Balochistan participated in the meeting through video link. ISLAMABAD: The World Bank on Tuesday reiterated support to Pakistan for overcoming challenges in the energy sector and reaffirmed its commitment to assistance for the implementation of structural reforms.
World Bank Managing Director (Operations) Axel van Trotsenburg lauded the socioeconomic coverage extended to the marginalised sections of the society during Coronavirus pandemic. He held a virtual meeting Minister for Finance and Revenue Shaukat Tarin.
Federal Minister for Economic Affairs Division Omar Ayub Khan, Minister for Power Hammad Azhar, State Bank of Pakistan Governor Reza Baqir attended the meeting.

CM reiterates to provide equitable educational opportunities to children
LAHORE (Dunya News) - Chief Minister Punjab Sardar Usman Buzdar reiterated to provide equitable access to four million children to best educational opportunities.
Chief minister chaired a meeting to review education sector reforms. The meeting was attended by Finance Minister Hashim Jawan Bakht, Education Minister Murad Raas, secretaries of the Information and School Education Departments and others.
Addressing the meeting CM said that the upgradation of more than 27 thousand schools will result in enhancing the enrolment ratio and it is sanguine that 10 thousand schools of south Punjab are also included in this list.
