The Tidewater Appalachian Trail Club made a pact at the start of the year to see to it that 500 saplings put roots in the ground to honor the club’s 50th anniversary. But the tree plantings serve another purpose: connecting with a fresh generation of potential members that will keep the club going for another 50 years.

The Vector Control Unit of the Ministry of Health and Wellness will target the parishes of St Peter, St James and St Michael, when it carries out its fogging schedule this week.
On Monday, February 22, the team will start in St Peter, when they go into Battaleys, Road View, Risk Road, Cemetery Road, Mullins, Mullins Terrace with Avenues, Battaleys Mews, and environs.
The next day, Tuesday, February 23, the Unit will fog areas in St Peter and St James, including Gibbs, Gibbs Glade, Piedmont Road, Lower Carlton with Avenues, and surrounding districts.
They will return to St James, on Wednesday, February 24, and focus on Carlton, Bairds Road, Doughlin Road, Weston, Crick Hill, Mount Standfast, Mount Standfast Tenantry, and environs.

NELSON COUNTY, Va. (WVIR) - A road in Nelson and Augusta counties is giving large trucks trouble as they are traveling over the Blue Ridge Mountains at Reids Gap.
Wintergreen Fire & Rescue Chief Curtis Sheets says they have seen an increase in the number of trucks getting stuck on Route 664 on the sharp turns located near the top of the mountain.
