Two killed, two injured in separate firing incidents Karachi December 26, 2020 Two people, including a dairy farmer, lost their lives, while as many others were wounded in separate incidents of firing in the metropolis on Friday. A dairy farmer was shot and killed near Ghaggar Phatak within the jurisdiction of the Steel Town Police Station. He was taken to Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre with critical gunshot injuries, where he died during treatment. He was identified as 30-year-old Ameer Zaman, son of Haji Roshan. SHO Mumtaz Marwat said Ameer was at his farm when unknown persons arrived there and shot him before escaping from the scene.

The victim had recently shifted to the Ghaggar Phatak area from Gulshan-e-Maymar after his wife had been murdered at their house about a month ago when unidentified persons had entered their house and opened indiscriminate fire at them. Resultantly, his wife was killed and he was seriously wounded. The deceased belonged to the Mehsud tribe of Waziristan

Action sought against sale of drugs in Malir s rural areas

Karachi December 20, 2020 A group of civil society and political activists of District Malir’s rural areas on Saturday took out a rally and staged a demonstration in the Darsano Chano area against the open sale of narcotics in their localities, accusing the authorities and police of giving a free hand to the drug peddlers. The rally started from the Darsano Chano mosque and ended at the main chowk with protesters carrying placards and raising slogans. Social activists, including Tariq Baloch, Hanif Dilmurad and Master Suleman Baloch, while speaking to the protesters, said that the business of narcotics in District Malir’s various rural and coastal areas, including Gadap, Memon Goth, Ibrahim Haidery and Rehri Goth, was on the rise and heroin and other drugs were openly traded, but police were doing nothing to curb the menace.

Press release KARACHI: A blood donation drive was organised for the underprivileged fishermen in Karachi’s Rehri Goth on Thursday. It was organised by the Indus Hospital in partnership with Milkar.com, the Green Crescent Trust (GCT) and Shahid Afridi Foundation (SAF). A press statement issued about the drive said Milkar.com was a driving force behind the latest blood drive in an area where mostly fishermen live. This was the fourth blood drive organised in the area. So far, over 200 people have volunteered to participate in the drive and 50+ bottles of blood have been collected after a stringent screening process.
