The Supreme Court on Tuesday lifted a Kerala High Court order that restricted activist Rehana Fathima - accused of ill motivation in using the term Gomatha to refer to a beef-based food item - from posting or publishing her views in either social media, print or electronic media.

In June last year, Fathima had courted a controversy by attempting to trek to the Sabarimala shrine, after the Supreme Court lifted the ban on entry of women at the holy temple. Rehana Fathima 
New Delhi: The Supreme Court, on Tuesday, stayed the Kerala High Court ban on controversial activist Rehana Fathima, which restricted her from posting, publishing or transmitting any information on social/ electronic media.
The Kerala High Court had, in November last year, passed strictures against Fathima after she posted a video of a cookery show with a beef recipe. The Kerala High Court had observed that the references to beef in the video were likely to hurt the religious sentiments of Hindus who worship the cow.
