she s got the strength to tap on her own, lift her head up. i see improvements every single day. for a period of time we were also able to get her into a chair, a mobile chair, and then we went to a window so she could see the mountains of tucson which there is no doubt in my mind really lifted up her spirits, i think. doctors plan to move her to a rehab center houston tomorrow p. cnn elizabeth cohen is already there. so what kind of therapy is the congresswoman likely to face? reporter: she s likely to face quite a bit of different kinds of therapy. and over a pretty long period of time as wong doctor told us. this is a marathon, it is not a sprint. she won t even immediately go into the rehab hospital. she ll be admitted to a regular hospital nearby to be assessed and to make sure that she s even ready for rehab. so she has a lot of steps to go before they can start getting
the rehabilitation hospital? there are concerns about ongoing medical issues and, again, i don t want to be more specific about that. but she s not quite ready for rehabilitation yet. we re going to be coming here, doing a thorough assessment and once we ve been able to do that, we ll be able to tell you more. reporter: carol, we just heard dr. kim say he does not want to be specific about what medical issues need to be addressed before giffords starts her rehab. i asked him in general at this stage in a recovery from an injury like this, what s going on here? and he said they worry about infection in the brain and they also worry about swelling in the brain. carol? and i note that traveling with congresswoman giffords will be her mother and her husband. will they stay there in houston while she goes through rehabilitation? you know, that s a great question. i don t know about her mom. we all know her husband lives and works right here in the houston area.
