Brooks Macdonald sees financial planning revenue fall Brooks Macdonald reported a slight fall from £2m to £1.9m in revenue for its financial planning arm, in the six months to 31 December 2020. Speaking to  Money Marketing this morning , chief executive Caroline Connellan said this was down to its plans last year to “better organise” in a way to deliver for private clients. In the half year results, it also reported that funds under management hit record levels at £15.5bn.

Vital to bring in wave of new financial advice talent

Over 80% of PFS members would recommend reskilling to second careerists joining sector The financial advice market has a battle on its hands. The number of advisers in the sector is declining and the industry needs to find a way to bolster the talent pool. The Personal Finance Society (PFS) surveyed 207 members and found that more than eight-out-of-10 (178) identified financial services as “viable” and a sector they recommend retraining to enter. The Financial Conduct Authority (FCA) requires financial advice professionals to be qualified to at least level four to provide advice , which is the equivalent of a certificate of higher education.
