On March 4, the Colorado Rapids signed center back Michael Edwards to a Homegrown contract for two years with a club option for an additional two years. The Rapids first had to acquire Edwards’ Homegrown rights from DC United, which they did in exchange for $75,000 of 2021 General Allocation Money.
Edwards has been in Germany playing with Wolfsburg’s youth teams since 2018 and is a product of the DC United Academy. Edwards has spent time with Wolfsburg’s first team in training, but was unable to crack a matchday squad.
