Centre County reported five new COVID-19 cases on Wednesday to bring its total to 16,880, according to the Pennsylvania Department of Health.
It was the county’s seventh consecutive day with five or fewer cases and 15th with fewer than 10.
Pennsylvania added 496 positives, marking the 12th consecutive day with fewer than 1,000 new cases and bringing the statewide total to 1,206,935.
The county reported 61 additional negative test results, bringing its total to 69,995. Statewide, there were 4,920 new negatives for a total of 4,652,121.
Mount Nittany Medical Center is treating nine COVID-19 inpatients between the ages of 56 and 85, unchanged from Tuesday. According to the DOH hospital preparedness dashboard, one COVID-19 patient in Centre County is in intensive care and on a ventilator.
Centre County reported two new COVID-19 cases on Friday to bring, marking the 10th consecutive day with fewer than 10 new positives and bringing its total to 16,869.
Pennsylvania added 703 cases the seventh straight day with fewer than 1,000 to bring the statewide total to 1,204,802.
The county reported 82 additional negative test results, bringing its total to 69,781. Across Pennsylvania, there were 6,641 additional negatives for a total of 4,626,860.
According to the DOH hospital preparedness dashboard, 10 COVID-19 patients are hospitalized in Centre County, including one in intensive care and on a ventilator.
Statewide, COVID-19 hospitalizations dropped below 900 for the first time since Oct. 19. Pennsylvania has 850 COVID-19 inpatients as of Friday morning, a decrease of 50 since Thursday, with 200 in intensive care [-12] and 120 on ventilators [-5].

Following its plan to provide incentives for getting the COVID-19 vaccine rather than requiring it, Penn State announced on Tuesday that it will have weekly prize drawings for students and employees who provide proof that they got their shots.
Beginning June 7 and continuing through Aug. 23, those who submit their vaccination status and complete an online form will be entered for the drawings each week for a $1,000 payment, $100 Barnes & Noble gift card (four winners each week) and a football signed by Penn State football coach James Franklin.
All students and employees at all campuses who have already received the vaccine or who receive it in the future are eligible.
It marks the eighth consecutive day the county has had fewer than 10 new cases.
Pennsylvania also added fewer than 1,000 positives for the fifth straight day. The 580 new cases bring the statewide total to 1,203,443.
DOH removed 80 negative test results from Centre County’s total, which is now 69,640. Across Pennsylvania, there were 5,381 additional negatives for a total of 4,610,343.
