You can’t win Parliamentary majority using ‘Patapaa’ – Techiman South MP-elect to NDC LISTEN 1
The ruling New Patriotic Party(NPP) Member of Parliament-elect for Techiman South, Martin Adjei Mensah Korsah says no amount of political machination by the opposition National Democratic Congress(NDC) will enable it to secure a Parliamentary majority in Ghana’s 8th Parliament.
The NDC believes it won the Techiman South seat in the just-ended Parliamentary election.
The constituency’s election recorded violence resulting in the death of two persons after a scuffle among supporters of the NDC and governing NPP and some security officers.
Minority Leader Haruna Iddrisu in a Press conference on Tuesday said the government is working to “deny the NDC a parliamentary majority.”
President of Ghana, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo
President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has been advised to reduce his “elephant-sized” ministerial appointees in his second term.
This clarion call was made by Senior Research Fellow at Kumasi Technical University (KsTU), Dr Smart Sarpong as he admonished the president-elect to slash down his number of ministers in his second term to ensure real protection of the national purse.
According to Dr. Sarpong, there are some ministries whose services are not relevant.
He cited the Ministry of Regional Reorganization and Development as well as Ministry of Monitoring and Evaluation, among others, as some of the ministries that must be dissolved to reduce cost and waste.
EC Chair, Jean Mensa
The Progressive People’s Party (PPP) has taken the Electoral Commission (EC) to the cleaners over the brouhaha surrounding the Techiman South constituency results.
Commenting on the outcome of the results that have been declared in favour of the New Patriotic Party’s parliamentary candidate, Mr Martin Agyei Mensah Korsah, he said the Member of Parliament-elect should be worried because the victory is tainted with controversies and suspicions.
The running mate of the party, Mr. Kofi Asamoah-Siaw told Kwabena Agyapong on Frontline on Rainbow Radio 87.5Fm that the results declared were not transparent and for Ghanaians to trust the EC, it must publish the declared results.
