Published May 22, 2021, 2:37 PM CEBU CITY – Two barangays here have been declared by the Regional Oversight Committee on Barangay Drug Clearing (ROCBC) as drug-cleared. Jona John Rodriguez, chief of the Cebu City Office of Substance Abuse Prevention (COSAP), said it was the first time in the city’s history to have two areas declared as drug-cleared – Barangays Sudlon 1 and Sto. Niño. Rodriguez said declaring these two barangays as drug-cleared went through a stringent process. The Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency-Central Visayas (PDEA Region 7) likewise welcomed the development. Leia Alcantara, information officer of PDEA Region 7, said the achievement of the barangays is a proof that it is possible to clear an area of illegal drugs despite being in a highly urbanized city.
