MATTAPOISETT - Part of a multimillion-dollar mansion on the Mattapoisett waterfront is severely damaged after a fire broke out in the house Tuesday afternoon, according to WCVB.
The Regional Old Colony Communications Center in Duxbury said one of its fire engines responded shortly after 1:40 p.m. to the historic home at 18 Ned s Point Road, which was built in 1916.
Officials with the Mattapoisett Fire Department also confirmed that a fire broke out at that address.
Video from the scene shows flames tearing through the roof in one wing of the mansion. It appears firefighters were able to contain the fire and limit it to that one wing.
