MOODY – The Moody City Council met briefly on Monday, Feb. 22 for a regular meeting in which the council granted funds to the Friends of Moody Schools Foundation.
The meeting began with a moment of silence for the current rate of deaths from COVID-19, which recently passed 500,000. Afterwards the council approved multiple expenses, including the granting of $1,000 to the foundation.
The Friends of Moody Foundation is a long-standing organization in Moody, having been first established in roughly the late 1970s or early 1980s, council member Brenda Crowe said. It is a 501 (c) organization, said Mayor Joe Lee.
The foundation regularly supports the local schools with money for scholarships and items that teachers will need.
