The Government of Panama has joined the Scaling Up Nutrition (SUN) Movement, confirming its commitment to improving nutrition within its borders and around the world. The addition makes Panama the sixty-sixth member country of the SUN Movement, which brings together representatives from civil society, business, United Nations agencies and governments to end malnutrition in all its forms. Joining SUN will grant Panama strategic support to establish partnerships with key stakeholders inside the country and allow it to benefit from the experiences of other member countries. Panama has made progress against key nutrition indicators in recent years, according to the 2023 report on The State of Food Security and Nutrition in the World. The prevalence of undernourishment in Panama dropped to 5.3 per cent in 2020–2022 from 21.6 per cent in 2004–2006. The proportion of children younger than 5 unable to reach their growth potential (stunted) fell to 13.8 per cent in 2022 from 19.9�
