Firefighters in cedar rapids are trying to figure out what caused a mobile home fire. One person is dead and another was taken to the hospital. The fire was at 3701 16th avenue sw. 72 year old Ronald Jacobs died at the scene. Responders took his wife, 72 year old karen jacobs, to Mercy Medical center before transferring her to another hospital. Smoke and flames had filled the mobile home when firereghters arrived just after 7 30 am yesterday morning. But the fire never got large enough to threaten any nearby mobile homes. One long time resident at the Mobile Home Park says the jacobs couple had lived there for issues, which may have slowed them down if they were trying to escape. He was on oxygen, and he liked to cook in the mornings, cook breakfast and stuff like that. But i dont know what happened or whatever. They found the suspect and victim had been shot. The victim was taken to a hospital in clarion then transferred to Mercy Medical center the suspect was taken to a fort dodge hospital and then transferred to iowa methodist this time. The Iowa Division of criminal investigation is assisting Eagle Grove Police with the case. But they have yet to name any suspects or say what led to the shooting. And our later newscasts.
