Three Huskers Named AVCA All-Americans

The Huskers’ three AVCA All-America selections improved their total to 95 all-time, which leads the nation. A nation-leading total of 47 players have combined for the Huskers’ 95 awards. The Nebraska volleyball program has had multiple All-Americans six years in a row.  Stivrins is a three-time AVCA All-American and a three-time All-Big Ten First-Team selection. She earned All-America first-team accolades for the second time in her Husker career. She becomes the first Husker to earn three AVCA All-America selections since Kadie Rolfzen (2013-16) and the first NU middle blocker to do so since Melissa Elmer (2003-05). Stivrins posted 3.19 kills per set, 1.03 blocks per set and a team-best .468 hitting percentage. Stivrins’ hitting percentage was the best in the Big Ten and the second-best in school history for a season. Her .398 career postseason hitting percentage is the highest in Nebraska history. • Following her performance on Thursday, Lauren Stivrins is hitting .476 this season. The Nebraska record for season hitting percentage is .473 by All-America middle blocker Tracy Stalls in 2007. • Lauren Stivrins is now hitting .386 in her career (1,068 kills, 275 errors, 2,055 attacks). Her .386 career hitting percentage is the highest ever by a Husker in the rally scoring era (since 2001). • The Nebraska-Baylor winner will move on to play the winner of fourth-seeded Texas and 13th-seeded Penn State in the regional final, which will be played on Monday, April 19 in the CHI Health Center main arena.

Less than 24 hours until it all begins. Before it starts, let s take a look at some high-impact freshmen that we will see in the tournament. These are not only the ones that consistently play or start, but instead, freshmen that are capable of taking over a game. Here they are, in no particular order: 1. Emily Londot Ohio State Londot was an obvious choice. This freshman has taken over many games this season as the Buckeyes leading scorer, and is probably the biggest part of Ohio State s ascension into a national power this season. Londot just won Big Ten Freshman of the Year and made the Big Ten All-Freshman team.
