"Kemba" was inspired by the true story of the Kemba Smith Pradia, the executive producer of the film with Nick Reid of the nonprofit MPI Original Films. They hope it will help serve as a catalyst for change in the criminal justice system and as a cautionary tale for young women to avoid the traps that ensnared Kemba, including violence against women.
