Saskatchewan’s COVID-19 numbers are going down everywhere except for Regina where variants of concern and new cases are still problematic.
Of the 156 new infections announced Tuesday, 101 are in Regina meaning 535 of the 1,292 active cases in the province, or 41-and-a-half percent come from the Regina region.
During the province’s weekly Tuesday update, Premier Scott Moe was asked why the government doesn’t do more in Regina to bring in tougher health measures instead of asking people to remain diligent. He countered by saying that is already happening.
“We do have significant measures, not just in Regina but across the province.” Moe said. “We’re not moving forward with relaxing those measures especially when it comes to large gatherings and worship services in Regina so we do have measures in place.”

The Saskatchewan government has proclaimed this week as Agricultural Safety week in the province.
Agriculture Minister David Marit says farming can be a dangerous occupation and safety must be a priority year round.
He wants farmers and the public to be especially aware during spring, when equipment is on the move on roadways for spring seeding.
This year’s theme, Lead an Ag Safe Canada, is the second of a three year farm safety campaign, Safe and Strong farms.
The federal government is providing $1.4-million to the Canadian Agricultural Safety Association for an awareness campaign around farm safety.
Regina Airport Authority hoping to earn back “international” designation By Drew Postey

At the end of January, the federal government revised its list of airports that have official “international” designations.
When the updated list of 13 came out, both Regina and Saskatoon were not on it.
Regina Airport Authority President and CEO James Bogusz spoke with reporters on Monday and said this is not just the loss of a title.
“This, right now anyway, would mean that there is no internationally designated airport in Saskatchewan,” he said. “Frankly that would be unacceptable, not only as a capital city but as the previous 15th busiest airport in the country before the pandemic, we see this as essential in the ability to market our region and to market to businesses who may want to locate here in the future,” Bogusz said.
