BOSTON Regina Cleri hosted its second annual open house on June 15, giving the archdiocese's active priests an opportunity to get to know the retirement community and learn about the healthcare resources available to them at any age.
Father Peter P. Nolan, CSSp., an Irish-born missionary to Nigeria, a priest serving in the archdiocese since 1982, and an inveterate Irishman, died at Regina Cleri in Boston on March 14, 2023.
Father Aidan J. Walsh, a priest of the archdiocese since his incardination on May 15, 1998, died in Boston on March 4, 2023. He was born in the Hub's Jamaica Plain section on Jan. 21, 1940. He was the last surviving of the eight children of the late John and Elizabeth (Gill) Walsh; among his deceased siblings was a sister, Sister Mary (Donatus) Walsh, CSJ.
Each year around this time, we hold a vocation discernment retreat organized by our Vocations Office. It's also a time when we remind our priests to identify potential candidates for the seminary from their parishes.
On Sunday, I went to the Fatima Shrine in Holliston to celebrate a Mass to mark the 75th anniversary of the Xaverian Missionaries in the United States. Of course, the Fatima Shrine is a very important presence of the community here in our archdiocese.
