In a news release issued Thursday, Regina police said Brittney Catherine Emma Burghardt, 26, and Justin Noah Paul Anderson, 24, were arrested one day earlier. Burghardt is charged with second-degree murder, while Anderson is charged with accessory after the fact to murder. Both are also charged with forcible confinement.

The toddler, 35 months old, was taken to hospital on June 9. At approximately 10:30 a.m. that day, officers went to a residence on the 2300 block of Retallack Street to assist other emergency responders.
