Ghana Heart Initiative donates medical equipment to 44 hospitals

Graphic Online BY: Felicia Kwarteng 30.5k Shares 705 The Ghana Heart Initiative (GHI), a project being implemented by the German International Agency(GIZ), has donated medical equipment worth €200,000 to 44 hospitals in the Greater Accra Region towards treatment of cardiovascular diseases (CVDs). The equipment include defibrillators, patient monitors, weighing scales with height meter and glucometers. The GHI donation was financed by Bayer AG, a German multinational pharmaceutical and life sciences company that has special interest in CVDs. Presentation of Equipment Presenting the medical equipment to the representatives of the 44 hospitals at a ceremony, the Director for GIZ Ghana, Mrs Regina Bauerochse Barbosa, said the equipment were to help reduce the risk CVDs posed and enable patients receive quality treatment while also allowing health workers to deliver their services more efficiently.

Vice-President Bawumia Receives Two Ambassadors

  Two Ambassadors to Ghana, have paid a courtesy call on Vice-President Alhaji Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia towards strengthening trilateral cooperation among the three countries. The delegation comprised Ms. Shani Cooper, Ambassador of the State of Israel to Ghana, Liberia and Sierra-Leone and Mr. Christoph Retzlaff, the German Ambassador to Ghana, who was accompanied by Madam Regina Bauerochse Barbosa, Country Director of Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit in Ghana (GIZ Ghana). The discussion was inspired by the Trilateral Cooperation between Ghana, Germany and Israel, which was launched in 2019 as a platform for exchange around and support to digital innovation. The first two phases of the Trilateral Cooperation consisted of a webinar series facilitated by Mashav, Israel’s Agency for International Development Cooperation, on the Israeli innovation ecosystem and an overview and discussion on governmental action in Ghana.
